1. Candle Life Span Monitoring Device and AppEvery home water filter that uses the gravity filtration technique is equipped with a candle. Over time, the candle may stop working effectively, even after extensive cleaning. However, by monitoring its performance and intervening when necessary, the life of the candle can be extended. It would be beneficial to develop an app or device that can monitor the candle's performance based on parameters such as filtration rate, turbidity of the filtered water, and the condition of the candle. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques can be used to determine the significance of each parameter in relation to the candle's cost, maintenance requirements, and overall lifespan. The weighted average of the parameters can represent the performance of the candle. Based on this index value, an app can be developed to alert the user about maintenance or replacement required. Low-cost sensors are available that can be utilized to detect turbidity or dimensions of candles on the spot. The rate of inflow of tap water and the rate at which the tank is filling up can also be identified, which can be used to find the rate of filtration. Through an IoT-based system, this measured data can be sent to the app for the calculation of the index.Startups can be established using app-based services with a subscription-based business model.
2. Insitu Water Quality Monitoring Device and App for Home Water FiltersThe primary purpose of home water filters is to convert tap water into drinkable water. However, since we don't monitor the quality of the water after it's been filtered, we might unknowingly consume water with toxic impurities. Water filters don't maintain consistent performance throughout their lifespan, and their effectiveness diminishes over time. Without on-site monitoring of the filtered water or checking its quality before consumption, there's a high chance of drinking impure water. To address this issue, there is a need to develop an in situ or on-site water quality monitoring device. By using low-cost sensors and IoT technology, one can monitor the water going into and coming out of the filter, allowing for a comparison of their quality before consumption. An app could also be developed to compare the water quality and provide alerts to the user if any anomalies are detected.Startups can be established using app-based services with a subscription-based business model.
3. Reusing Waste Water of Reverse Osmosis FiltersReverse osmosis filters release two types of water. One type is for consumption, while the other is channeled out as wastewater. This wastewater is continuously released during the filtration process. It carries all the impurities of tap water and cannot be consumed directly. Given the scarcity of water in major metropolitan areas like Bangalore, Johannesburg, and California, there is a pressing need to find a way to reuse this wastewater. One solution could be to channel the water through a gravity filter and reuse the output for non-drinkable purposes. This issue presents an opportunity to open a service industry providing solutions for reusing wastewater from RO filters, especially in water-scarce areas.
4. Insitu Energy Monitoring Device for Home Water FiltersRO filters require electricity to operate. The energy needed for filtering water varies depending on factors such as the level of impurities in the water, the quantity, and quality of water coming in and going out, its frequency etc.. Monitoring the energy consumption of water filters is important for minimizing household energy use. A device could be designed to display the amount of energy used, overuse or underuse, and total energy used for RO filtration per day, week, and month in an app that can be downloaded from the Play Store. The device or App could also alert the user about excessive energy use. Startups can be established using app-based services with a subscription-based business model.
5. Water Consumption AlarmsThis innovative device is designed to keep track of the frequency of filter usage and accurately measure the volume of water dispensed. By analyzing this data, you will receive alerts if you are using excessive or insufficient amounts of water, as both scenarios are considered non-optimal.
Startups can be established using app-based services with a subscription-based business model. Want to open a start-up with the help of any one of the above ideas? Claim it.
