15. Quality Monitoring of the Water Used for Domestic ConsumptionClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
The water that can be used for drinking can be characterized through the following Water Quality Parameters :
i)Dissolved Oxygen(DO) :ii) Biological Oxygen Demand(BOD)iii) Total and Faecal Coliformiv) Dissolved and Suspended Solidsv)Temperaturevi) Hardness due to Magnesium or Calcium Ionsvii) Chlorineviii) Heavy Metals
Among the 8 water quality parameters that need to be monitored continuously to decide about the way one can use the water, there are inexpensive sensors available in the market to monitor five of the parameters. If heavy metals are ignored then BOD and Total and Faecal Coliform can be measured only by physical methods. However, you can calculate BOD from three-day or five-day DO because the ratio of DO at three or five days minus DO at the current day and DO at the current day is referred to as the Three of Five Day BOD. Similarly, Total Coliform can be derived from the data of DO as all the microbes can sustain by consuming dissolved oxygen of the water and so if we know how much oxygen is consumed per colony of the microbe then we can calculate the total number of colonies present in the water. if you can aggregate the data measured by the sensors and calculate the same then you can utilize the information to find the Water Quality Index (WQI) of the water sample with the help of any of the methods. If the signals from the sensors are directly fed to an App that can deduce the WQI from these data then real-time WQI can be monitored of any source of water and accordingly, the water can be treated for drinking uses.
A StartUp can be created based on this service.
14. Grey Water Reuse Potential MonitoringClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
Grey Water is the wastewater that is generated by every domestic/industrial or agricultural consumer. After water is utilized for cleaning utensils the same is channeled out by drains to the main drains from there to the sewer canals. This is the water we have wasted after single use. If services can be offered to reuse this water then the wastage of water resources can be reduced. One of the reuses of wastewater is to store the water and then use it for gardening. This is also one of the major policies of circular economy where governments of different countries are aiming towards zero waste households or industries. Startups can provide a service to monitor how much water can be reused and how ? and profit by charging consultancy fees or subscription fees.
13. Monitoring Green Water Reuse PotentialClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
In agriculture, about 40% of water withdrawals typically return to local rivers and aquifers and thereby becomes available for reuse (Source)
Green Water is the water used for irrigation for agriculture. This water can also be reused after treatment. Micro irrigation-based systems can be developed to first store the water collected from surface or groundwater. Then the water is used for irrigation and the water that overflows can be collected and reused for irrigation in the same field. The water that infiltrates can also be collected and reutilized. But how to collect or how you can reuse this water can be provided by consulting experts only. That can be the idea to open a StartUp providing this type of service.
12. Blue Water Reuse Potential MonitoringClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
Bluewater occurs in two different forms: surface runoff in surface water bodies and renewable groundwater runoff in the aquifers. Bluewater is the water that is utilizable for significant consumption. Integrated management of blue water availability and its use, reuse, and reduction of use can be a basis for opening a consulting startup.
11. Monitoring Virtual Water Reduction PotentialClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
Virtual water, also known as embedded water or indirect water, is the water consumed during the production of a product, service, or process. For example, virtual water is used to make a box of cereal. The concept of virtual water was developed in the 1990s to understand how international trade affects the global flow of water. Many services offer to manage the virtual water availability and how the amount can be reduced. However, the Circular Economy Potential of this type of water is often overlooked. There can be a startup that can make their client aware of the different ways the virtual water can be repurposed.
10. Monitoring Grey Water Recycle PotentialClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
The basic difference between reuse and recycling is the former allows the resource use to be extended by repurposing and often reusing the resource for different or the same use respectively. But when we recycle water we convert the resource into its raw material or its building blocks and use those materials to develop something new. The advantage is zero waste can be possible if we recycle grey water. How? Startups can be opened to provide this solution.
9. Monitoring Green Water Recycle PotentialClaim the Idea by offering 5% Stake to the Ideator
Water recycling, also known as water reuse or water reclamation, can help reduce and prevent pollution, and improve water security, sustainability, and resilience. Recycled water can contain higher levels of nutrients than potable water, which can reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers. For example, recycled water can be used for irrigation and flushing toilets, and can also create or enhance wetlands and riparian (stream) habitats. Wetlands provide many benefits, including wildlife and wildfowl habitat, water quality improvement, flood diminishment, and fisheries breeding grounds.
Green water recycling is the process of using treated wastewater for beneficial purposes, such as reducing farm water use, flood washing, and dairy effluent. Green water is the water held in soil and available to plants and is the largest freshwater resource. Farmers, foresters, and pasture or rangeland users manage green water.
But to optimize this process of recycling the amount of water that can be recycled as green water or from green water need to be monitored. Startups can be developed for this purpose also which will charge a consultancy fee to show industrial or domestic users about the different ways they can recycle Greenwater and not only recycle but can also earn from it. A simple monitoring of the green water quantity and quality can help the start-up to provide this consultancy against a nominal fee.
